At a minimum IT organisations must demonstrate to their key stakeholders that it is performing to the standards expected of them. With the continued trend towards Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) IT organisations must go further and demonstrate themselves to be an integral value adding service.
Experience has taught us that a precursor to effectively measuring IT performance is the establishment and agreement with key stakeholders of criteria that defines good performance. This criterion takes the form of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or an Organisational Level Agreements (OLAs). We can provide valuable input and guidance during the design phase of such agreements to help you avoid common pitfalls and mistakes.
Taking your SLA/OLA we can then apply our expertise in Microsoft SQL Server to sourcing and measure the appropriate key performance indicators (KPI) from your source systems. We have a number of internally developed solutions to help expedite this process from System Center Operations Manager and various other systems.
The final step is to collate this data into a series of high level executive scorecards built in Microsoft SQL Reporting Services that clearly and succinctly show organisational performance. You can then publish these scorecards using a variety of methods including Email, Sharepoint and PDF for delivery to a broad audience. Raising the visibility of IT with executive level scorecards increases transparency and builds confidence with key stakeholders. This gives IT organisations the ability to demonstrate value to their customers.
